There is no other place in the clinic that focuses more on the safety and well being of our patients than the sterilization area. Wherever and whenever disposable items can be used in treatment, they are. Instruments that are not disposable are hand-scrubbed, cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaning bath, and then autoclaved in one of two different sterilizers. All instruments are bagged in sealed pouches before they are sterilized, and they are not opened until ready for use on a patient. (Those pouches have indicators on them that change color when exposed to the right temperature and pressure for complete sterilization.) In addition, both sterilizers are monitored with a state-of-the-art technique to assure completely efficient sterilization. A company outside the clinic does that monitoring.
